A New Year

Happy New Year!

Wow what a year we had in 2013!

My baby turned four years old, she started sleeping in her own bed ALL NIGHT LONG EVERY NIGHT, she started 4k, she had her 1st friend over to the house, she fell in love with Disney Princesses, she convinced Grandma to pierce her ears and she convinced Mommy and Daddy to buy her a puppy for Christmas!

We made some great memories. We went camping, spent long weekends at Grammy & Poppy’s house, built our first snow fort, learned how much fun water parks can be.

We also had some hard days learning to let go of someone we loved and helping Kahlan though her first experience with death when my mother-in-law passed away six weeks after finding out that she had cancer. The end of our summer became a whirlwind of spending as much time with her as we could while also helping my father-in-law.

2013 was the year that I also FINALLY came to grips with infertility and stopped letting it define who I am and who I want to become. I’m not saying I don’t have hard days. But I am so grateful for my family of three, so grateful to be Kahlan’s mommy. I feel like I have finally gotten to a place of peace and acceptance. Really how could this little girl not be more than I will ever need.

So here is to a new year filled with brand new opportunities to create more awesome memories. I’m planning to be here more often this year to share those memories with you.

Happy New Year from our family to yours!

Kahlan’s absolute favorite part of Easter was planting a jellybean on Saturday for the Easter Bunny to magically change into a lollipop on Sunday Morning.  Kahlan honestly thought this was the coolest thing ever and whenever anyone asks her about Easter this is the first thing she tells them about.

Planting a purple jellybean because she was really hoping for a purple lollipop.

On Sunday morning she ran straight to the table to see if it had grown into a lollipop and…

We had a very excited little girl!

Favorite People

Scott likes to tease Kahlan about who her favorite person is.

The other day he asked her who she liked the most…

“Mama, she’s my best friend in the while wide world”. Yay for Mama!!

“And you like me next best right after Mama?”

“No. I like Mama, Ashley (her best buddy from school) and then you Daddy!”

That’s why you don’t ask a three year old loaded questions, they answer!

Camping Fun

So we spent Memorial Day camping with Scott’s family and we had so much fun. Last year at the end of the season we bought a new tent and that ended up being so much better for us.

It is so big that Kahlan can have her own little space all to herself in it which she absolutely loved. She actually slept in her own little tent all night long both nights even through a very loud thunderstorm.

We spent lots of time hanging out with the family. Scott’s Auntie Gerri had a whole bunch of fun things for Kahlan to do like modeling clay & rocket balloons.

Kahlan spent time looking for tadpoles more like sticks down by the river.

And she spent lots of time hanging out with two of her very favorite people her godmother Heather and Heather’s husband Tom. I can’t tell you how much she loves these two. And they are so awesome with her.

We had lots of great food. Lots of laughs.

And lots of lots of snuggles.

By the end of the weekend we were all exhausted but had such a great time.
