Kahlan is at a stage where she LOVES to pretend to drive in the car. She loves to sit in my car and fiddle with all the buttons and make it so when I turn on the car the next time my radio is so loud I almost have a heart attack.
So it was an absolute hit, when my dad let Kahlan “drive” his boat which is parked in his garage. Kahlan LOVES to sit behind the wheel and she points to where everyone else will sit. Kahlan sits behind the wheel, Poppy sits next to her, GrandMA! sits in the back and I don’t think most times Mama is even invited. Last time we visited my parents we agreed that we have to get this kid out on the water in it.
Lately Kahlan has this amazing memory, nothing gets past the kid.
So today when we pulled into her “school” parking lot, there was a truck parked that was hauling a blue boat.
Here’s how the conversation went:
“Mama, that boat blue. Poppy boat black. Poppy boat NO WATER!”
I laughed so hard, I didn’t even know that she understood that a boat was supposed to go in the water. I guess Poppy will be taking Kahlan for a real boat ride in the water real soon!

Scott has a very hard time saying no to his little girl. So when Kahlan saw this bike, Daddy knew she had to have it.
Kahlan loves this bike. Our driveway has a pretty big incline to it and she will scream down the driveway on this bike. It scares me to death because I just know she is going to tip it over. So for the most part this year we have kept the bike inside the house and let her scoot around in circles around the house.

But my parents have the perfect spot for Kahlan to ride her bike and so whenever we visit them I make sure to bring it.
However, this time when I got back from my parents house I forgot to take Kahlan’s bike out of my trunk and every time I remember to do it, Scott has the car with him at work. I wasn’t really feeling guilty about the situation as it’s not like Kahlan doesn’t have a million other toys to play with. That is until we were on the way to school today and Kahlan said “Miss Bike, Get Out Mama’s Car.”
Poor Baby, knew the stupid thing was in my car this whole time! So the situation has been remedied and Miss Kahlan is now once again zooming through the house on her Radio Flyer!

McCune Beach

Okay so another major reason my dad never let us have a swimming pool in the yard was every year we got a family pass to our town’s local beach. I guess considering we had such an awesome place to swim it wasn’t so bad that we couldn’t have a little pool in the backyard.
Anyway, we decided that this year Kahlan was old enough to finally take to McCune Beach. I was so excited to take her there, but a little nervous about how she would like it because she had never been to a beach with sand and she has never been to a place where she can just walk right into the water.
Well no worries. Kahlan LOVED it.
She loved swimming with Auntie Megan.
She loved it when Mama through her in the air.
She loved going down the slide.
She loved it when she figured out she could crawl in the water.
And even though it was 95 degrees outside the day we went, we had such an awesome time. My sister and I were amazed that the place has not changed at all, although it was weird because everything looked so much smaller than I remembered it.
I can’t wait to take Kahlan back.

My dad NEVER let us have a swimming pool when we were growing up. He said it would ruin the grass. No matter how much we begged he never gave in.
So, I am not sure how this happened.
Yep, this is my parents backyard.
Yep, this is a swimming pool.
Nope, doesn’t look like the grass is ruined.
Hmm, guess the rules are different when it comes to Kahlan, huh Dad?
